VMHA Team Managers
As you are all aware, we start losing our home rinks as of December 10th when the Agrodome reverts to VANOC. The loss of our rinks affects not only our practice schedules, but our game schedules. Even if your team does not play out of the Agrodome, the closure may affect your team.
We have 25 sheets of ice currently at the Agrodome. The first priority is to have the games after the 10th rescheduled. Lily, our ice allocator, has already resolved many conflict games (all games after Dec. 10th are considered conflict games regardless if they are scheduled for the Agrodome or not). Please do not turn a resolved game down because it is your second of the day or you might miss a practice. If Lily cannot resolve the conflicts, our home games will need to be played at the oppositions ice and we will not be able to refuse. We will still need to pay for the ice and officials.
Lily is currently working on a schedule that will run from Dec. 11th until January 15th, when we lose Trout Lake and Killarney. She is doing her best to keep things as consistent as possible, but you were all made aware at the beginning of the season that this was eminent and to expect changes. Lily will send an updated Dec. 11th - Jan. 15th schedule out ASAP. We will then have a subsequent schedule from Jan 16th until spring break (March 5). Lily is picking up sheets of ice at different arenas where ever she can to supplement what we get from the Parks Board during this time. You may be scheduled for an ice time at Riley Park, Sunset, Kits, Kerrisdale, West End, Robson Square, 8 rinks, Planet Ice Coquitlam or NorthShore Canlan.
We all need to be flexible and adaptable from Dec. 11th onward. Although we have been inconvenienced this season, we will have two great new facilities for next season and one updated facility. We appreciate your patience and support.
Sincerely,
Rochelle Wallace
President
