MOVING BEYOND MINOR HOCKEY

Many of our players want to pursue their dreams to play hockey at the highest level possible.  From playing minor hockey to making it in the professional ranks is a huge step, with many smaller steps in between.   Milan Lucic is a fine example of a player that stayed and played with VMHA through Midget.  As a second year Midget player, he tried out for Delta Ice Hawks Jr. B where he started the season. Coquitlam(Burnaby) Express Jr. A picked him up and he finished the season with them.  The following season he made the Vancouver Giants, where he played for 3 seasons before making it on to the roster of the Boston Bruins of the NHL.
Every spring and summer, many of our older players have opportunities to try out for Junior or Provincial teams.  Some are scouted and invited to camps.  Others go to Prospect Camps and from there receive invitations to Main Camps.  BC U16 is an open try out, whereas BC U17 is an invitational camp.  Greater Vancouver Canadians Major Midget team also holds an open try out for all midget aged players in Vancouver, Richmond, and Delta. 
This year the following players are doing their best to follow in the footsteps of Milan Lucic.

Congratulations to the following VMHA players for Major Midget and Junior Team selections:
 
JAMIE CREAMORE - Jamie played his first year of midget on our Midget A1 team and has not looked back. 
Last season he played with the Greater Vancouver Canadians of the Major Midget League and this season he has signed with the GRANDVIEW STEELERS JR. B hockey club of the PIJHL.  Good luck Jamie!
 
KYLE HOEKSTRA - Kyle was selected for his second season to play with the GREATER VANCOUVER CANADIANS of the BC Hockey Major Midget League. 
Kyle had a successful season last year as a first year midget player and this year will be a great leader for the team.  Kyle has also been invited to the WHL Swift Current Broncos main camp. Have a great season Kyle!
 
MACK WALLACE - Mack played his first year of midget on our Midget A1 team as a first line defensman.
He has been selected as one of only two allowable 16 year olds on the GRAND FORKS BORDER BRUINS JR. B hockey club of the KIJHL. Mack has also been invited to tryout with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.  Best of luck Mack!

DYLAN WILSON - Dylan played his first year of rep hockey with VMHA this past season as a third year Midget A1 player.  Dylan will play this season with the North Okanagan Knights Jr. B of the KIJHL.  Have a great season Dylan!
