President's message

Welcome to a new season

A great response from volunteers, but we need more

If the past few months are any indication, we’re in for a great season at VMHA. This is my fourth term as president, and I’m seeing a spirit of volunteerism that had been missing from our association for years.

At the AGM in June we had many of you putting your names forward for positions on the board and offering to help wherever needed. I can already see the benefits at the board level, with new energy, fresh perspectives and new ideas being brought forward.

Without our volunteers we wouldn't have hockey for our kids. We still have a number of roles that need filling, so we encourage you to bring your energy and enthusiasm to these positions. Please visit the volunteer information on our website to see where you can help.

About the new Spirit website

After many years of effort we’ll now have a new website, and we have a team in place to update it with more timely, helpful information. News about clinics, our committees and more will be on the site, along with a calendar of events that will give us a heads-up on everything from photo day to Giants night to clothing orders and more.

In addition to info about policies and procedures, we’re going to post how-to guides for arena score clocks, something that should prove popular.  The site should become the "one stop shop" for all that’s happening within VMHA.

Attend our events: they’re vital for fundraising

With rising costs for ice and equipment season after season, the only way we can keep costs down for our families is to raise funds whenever we can. Attending events like our Giants night, Gala, golf tournament and the Puck N Party not only helps pay for the basics, it also builds a sense of community as we get to know the families that make VMHA the best association in B.C.

Vancouver Minor is such a great organization, with a solid group of kids and parents. Join us in making this little association the best place to have your kids play hockey. Please let us know how you can help.

See you all at the rink!
