VMHA's Peewee A1 squad bounced back from a heart-breaking loss three nights earlier to earn a 2-2 tie with Burnaby Winter Club A2 and earn a berth in the B.C. Tier 2 championship tournament in Trail later this month.

VMHA finished the Final 4 tournament at the PNE Agrodome with one win, one loss and a tie, finishing second to BWC (2-0-1), which were one Vancouver goal away from losing the PCAHA banner.

The Van Minor squad took a 1-0 first-period lead when Alyandro De Leon picked off a pass near his own blue line, skated hard into the BWC home and ripped a shot high to the glove side. That lead increased to 2-0 when Sam Coderre jumped on a rebound to score from a tough angle in the second period.

BWC, which played in the top flight of Peewee rep hockey during league play,  got two third-period goals to get the tie. Vancouver netminder Markus Lam played the latest in a string of strong games, but got lots of help from a stellar defensive effort from his teammates.
