Tryout Fee: $200 (non-refundable)


Additional Rep Fees

These are the estimated Rep fees for the 2024-2025 season. These fees cover the cost of coaches, additional practice ice, and dryland training. They do not include team-related fees for tournaments, coach travel expenses, and other team activities.

  • U11: $900 - $1,400
  • U13: $925 - $1,425
  • U15: $1,000 - $1,500
  • U18: $1,150 - $1,900

Policies

2024-25 Rep Coaches

Drew Carter - U11A1 Head Coach

Drew played four years in the KIJHL for multiple teams, ultimately becoming the captain of the Princeton team for three years. He then spent five years at Minot State University, winning two ACHA national championships. Following his successful tenure at Minot, Drew was selected to play for Team Canada at the World Cup of University Hockey, where he captained the team to a silver medal in Romania. Drew is excited to share his passion, experience, and knowledge of the game to inspire others.

Jamie Smith - U13A1 Head Coach

Jamie, a VMHA alumnus and experienced coach, has been with the program since 2009. With a background in kinesiology and education, Jamie brings a unique perspective to his coaching role. He has contributed to two provincial championships with VMHA and is dedicated to teaching athletes to read and react to the game, while fostering a balance of competitiveness and fun. As the Athletic Director and Hockey Academy Coordinator at Britannia Secondary, Jamie is passionate about sharing his lifelong love of hockey and helping his players develop valuable friendships and experiences.


Brian Busenius - U13A2 Head Coach

 


Jim Russell - U15A1 Head Coach

Jim is an experienced and highly respected coach at VMHA with ten years of coaching experience. He will be the U15A1 head coach for the upcoming season, having served as the U15A2 coach for the past three seasons. During his tenure at the U15A2 level, Jim has led his teams to a flight championship, gold medals in Seattle and at our VMHA Christmas Tournament, finishing last year with a Presidents Series Playoff banner.

Jim has been actively involved in select Spring and Summer development leagues throughout the Lower Mainland, where he has continuously honed his coaching skills and acquired a wealth of knowledge. He is consistently rated as one of VMHA's top coaches by parents and players, highly valued for his accreditation and extensive coaching experience.

In addition to his on-ice achievements, Jim is passionate about giving back to the community and helping those in need. He emphasizes the importance of making his team excel both on and off the ice, fostering a well-rounded and community-focused environment. Jim's dedication, expertise, and commitment to community service make him an invaluable asset to VMHA and a role model for his players.


Philip Kim - U15A2 Head Coach

Philip brings a wealth of experience, having previously coached at PMAHA and BWC. He has also conducted skill clinics for players from initiation to U15 age groups, showcasing his versatility and commitment to player development.

Philip's dedication to player growth and development, both on and off the ice, is central to his coaching philosophy. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork, competition, respect, and attitude, motivating players to overcome obstacles and challenges while instilling these key values in their athletic pursuits. His approach not only aims to enhance their skills but also to shape them into well-rounded individuals.


Jason Mann - U18A1 Head Coach

Jason returns to VMHA for his sixth season as the U18A1 Head Coach. Teaming up with Associate Coach Nathan Deyell, Jason is dedicated to fostering a team-driven culture that nurtures individual growth. Their collaborative approach has empowered VMHA players to reach their full potential, resulting in over 25 players advancing to junior hockey over the past four seasons. Many others have continued their involvement in the sport through recreational or alternative avenues.

In addition to his role at VMHA, Jason brings a wealth of experience from spring hockey and various positions within Jr A and Jr B teams. His extensive background and passion for hockey make him an invaluable asset to the U18A1 program.
