September Ice Sessions

Ice sessions are important for an official's development and especially early on in the season, it is imperative to start the season strong. You will have two options for ice sessions Sept 8 and Sept 15, and it is mandatory that you attend one, but you are welcome to come to both. We are lucky to have very experienced officials come out and help us with our ice sessions. Come and soak up some of our instructors' expertise!

 

Sept 8th - 6:15pm -7:45pm at Killarney - FULL

This ice session is open to all officials

Featuring Rupert Xu (VMHA RIC) and Michael Mcgowan (Professional hockey official)

Michael Mcgowan is a good friend of mine as well as a highly respected hockey official. Mcgowan is an extremely talented official that has worked his way through the ranks and now works WHL and AHL.

Some of his achievements include:

• WHL finals (2022)
• IIHF world juniors (2021)

Sept 15th - 6:15pm -7:45pm at Killarney

This ice session is open to all officials

Instructors will be Rupert Xu (VMHA RIC) and Jake Townsend.

Jake and I worked countless Junior B games last season, we were almost inseparable as a pairing. We would be sent to Penticton together for the CSSHL U18 Championship, where Jake would officiate the finals (gold medal) game.

Jake Townsend is a veteran Junior B linesman. He also served as the RIC for North Van minor the past season.
