Director of Hockey Operations (DOHO)

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000
Position Overview
The Director of Hockey Operations (DOHO) is a key leadership role within the Vancouver Minor Hockey Association (VMHA), responsible for the strategic planning, administration, and execution of all hockey programs. This position provides leadership in coach and player development, ensuring that VMHA continues to foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and growth. The DOHO will oversee the development of VMHA’s hockey programming, mentor coaches, and manage the operations of the VMHA Training Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement VMHA’s hockey development model in alignment with organizational objectives
- Lead and oversee coach recruitment, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality instruction at all levels
- Manage player development programs, including skill-building initiatives and structured progression plans
- Coordinate tryouts, team selections, and player pathway guidance in collaboration with the hockey committee
- Ensure compliance with Hockey Canada, BC Hockey, and PCAHA policies and guidelines
- Oversee the VMHA Training Centre, including operations, scheduling, and resource allocation
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive hockey background with a strong understanding of player development principles
- Minimum of five years of coaching experience (Development 1 certification required; High Performance 1 certification considered an asset)
- Proven leadership, communication, and administrative abilities
- Experience in program planning, budgeting, and scheduling within a hockey organization
