Drafted 23rd overall and played 14yrs in the NHL on 5 different teams

Coaching Career:

2008 - Assistant coach and GM - Portland WinterHawks

2013 - AHL head coach of the Utica Comets and led them to the Calder Finals

April 26, 2017 - Named head coach of the Vancouver Canucks

 

Jon Abbott

Jon Abbott entered his first season providing radio play-by-play and broadcast coverage for the Vancouver Canucks; sharing the booth with John Shorthouse on TSN 1040 and across the Canucks Radio Network. The Seneca College graduate has prior professional experiences, including acting as the voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies, as well as covering the Ottawa Senators. Before hitting the professional ranks, Abbott plied his trade in the Ontario Hockey League with stops in London, Toronto and Ottawa. Beginning as a broadcaster at age 16, his play-by-play path has also led him to call games at the Calder Cup Championships, IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, OHL Championships and the World Under-17 Hockey Championship.
